Had 2 of these mk1 in the 90's,a black mk1 1.6,extremley clean,blew the engine and sold it,the oyher was a red 1.8 perrelli,sold it on,a couple of mk3 rs turbos,xr3i,and my fave a mk2 rs Mexico ohc,with rally suspension,that was fun wrote it off going to a rave blackburn,then some stole it.if i new then what i know now,id be rich in classics

Bumpers worth a good chunk, side skirts worth a good chunk as well!! Same with headlights. The grill alone is 150 to 300 in the states..

What tf are yoou guys drinking over that side of the pond, Lol. If a car has been siitting a year or so, sure a oil change and you might keep driving. But anything with two or more years to be safe run an engine flush using liqui moly if youre really trying to save the engine.

I also did not have such contact with the plastic that you bought from your friend, but I understood the principle of its operation. I've consulted a lot, but I can't get an exact answer. Most people think that the bulk heads job is to only protect from fire, this isn't the case. My brother had a Mini Clubman Estate back in the mid 90s with a Metro MG Turbo engine bolted in. He hit a Ford Transit head on only doing 45mph. The engine broke it's mounts, smashed through the firewall (that we found out was rotten) and landed on his lap. He was extremely lucky to survive, he was even more lucky to not be a paraplegic.

A few large Adel clamps and a large piece of plexiglass would solve the bug and wind problem. Also, a stronger rear axle to prevent wheel tilt.
